Question about 2001 Nissan Sentra

2 Answers

My Nissan Sentra has been sitting in my driveway for 5 months. I started it about every 3 weeks and let it idle for 20 minutes each time.(I could not drive it - plates were turned in to DMV)Now, the engine turns over but the car won't start. The battery is fine. I was told it probably is either the fuel pump or the fuel injector. This problem never happened before. Your opinion PLEASE.

I would add a gallon of gas with a bottle of fuel cleaner. If that dont do it, check for spark at end of one of the plug wires.

My 1997 nissan sentra dies at idle and then cranks but wont start unless let sit about 10 minutes only with engine warm worse on a hot day,

I would check the ignition module then maybe the coil. Check with autozone or kragen they should test it for free.

I am having a problem with my car starting. It mainly happens when in the garage and when its been sitting overnight. It seems to good battery. It ALWAYS does start, but only after trying it 3-4 times after...

if still under warranty have dealer perform fuel rail residual pressure test.probably defect w/pressure regulator /check valve in fuel tank.fuel rail does not hold residual pressure so when you start after sitting for extended periods it takes time for pressure to build up and vehicle to start.

Whats the timing for the nissan sr20 motor in my 96 serena van.. cheers weetbix

GA16DE and SR20DE Engines

1. Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature.
2. Run the engine at 2000 rpm for 2 minutes and return to idle.
3. Turn the engine OFF and disconnect the throttle position sensor harness connector.
4. Start the engine and race the engine to 2000 rpm, 3 times.
5. Connect a timing light to the No. 1 spark plug wire and battery.
6. Loosen the distributor hold-down bolt and adjust the ignition timing to 10 degrees BTDC for the GA16DE and 15 degrees for the SR20DE engines.
7. Turn the engine OFF and reconnect the throttle position sensor harness.

Have 1987 nissan sentra wagon 1.6 carb.engine the problem is an idle problem when I start in the morning or when its had time to cool down I depress the accelorator pedel to set the choke and high idle cam...

Check your Ignition timing before anything
check your plugs see what color they are
red or orange means carb is to lean , black
or oil means to rich then you can go from there
and set mixture screws on carb , let me no how you make out .
