if it is fuel waxing try addind small amount of petrol to your tank i.e. pint of petrol to 5 gallons of diesel

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

With all this hot weather everywhere you are now member of a growing club. That is the clogged fuel filter and worn out fuel pump club. You are experiencing "vapor lock". Cooler weather lets most restricted fuel systems go unnoticed. Start by replacing the fuel filter. Usually located under car on drivers side, in front of rear axle.

2 possibilities
* crank sensor
*catalytic converter plugged

It actually could be a number of things. I need to ask you more questions to narrow my prognosis down. You mentioned the weather being cold, lately. How cold? Freezing?When was your last tune up and do you eventually get the car started after trying for a while? If you do how does it run?

CHECK THE COLD START ENRICHMENT VALVE AND OR THE IDLE CONTROL VALVE. I AM ASSUMING THAT YOUR VEHICLE IS FUEL INJECTED. ONE OF THOSE HAVE GONE BAD.

Primary fuel pump requires replacement. Your secondary fuel pump is used only for starting and WOT situations. This is why your vehicle will start, run, and die.

Sounds like it could be your alternator (the part which recharges your battery while you're driving.) If it's in the process of dying, it will still give a little power back, and it will seem to be doing it's job when you're in the shop, but after some driving, you'll lose power. If it isn't that, there's also a chance it could be you have a short somewhere which is draining your battery. 
I would get your alternator checked first.
