The alarm needs to be turned off. Cycle the key in the door and try again.

The switch on the lock cylinder may have fallen off, it happens. You might try the other door. If that doesn't work, remove the drivers door panel. Near the rear of the door is a two wire connector that the switch plugs into. If you disconnect the connector and momentarily jump across the two terminals on the wire harness side (not the switch side) with a paper clip it will turn the alarm off.

New battary now car stalls

did you clean the batt connectors when you installed new batt. if terminals are corroded they produce a volotage drop that some of the electronics in the car will see as no voltage to the chips

Its stalls and hard to start

The next time you have the starting problem, try putting the shifter in the neutral position and try starting. If it starts right up, you have a park/neutral safety switch problem.
As far as the stalling, I would suggest a complete throttle body cleaning as well as a injector cleaning. You can purchase a couple of bottles of Chevron fuel system conditioner. Poor a bottle in the tank and fill with fuel. Run a couple of tanks through and you should notice an improvement.
You might want to stop by your local Auto Zone and ask them to scan your vehicle for trouble codes, it might give you additional clues.
Good luck,
Regards,

Transmission locking up

If it has been sitting for ten years....you need to do an engine oil change, and a transmission fluid and filter change.

Ad some fuel stabilizer to the gas tank also. It is available EVERYWHERE.
