I have put a new distributor cap, coil and rotar on a 1984, 454 and am not getting any fire to my plugs. Was trying to find a wiring diagram to make sure that I had all of the wires hooked back up to the distributor cap. I have the firing order, but might have left some other wire off?

Make sure you have Power to the plug marked BAT on the side cap. If you do its probably the module inside under the Rotor

SOURCE: 1990 chevy 350 distributor wiring diagram and firing order

The firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.
The distributor rotates in a clockwise direction. The engine must be on the compression stroke on the #1 cylinder. Line up the timing marks. Remove the cap and the rotor should be pointing to approximately the 5 o'clock position.

Good Luck

Y is my 97 chevy only fires on the number one cylender

if you have fire on the number one cylinder,it means that the ignition coil is working so your problem can come from spark plug wire or cap and rotor . unplug the wire from ignition coil to distributor and check for fire you are suppose to have fire because you saying having fire on cylinder one. from there change cap of distributor and rotor plus a set a spark plug wire.

I replaced cap rotar and dist. now it cranks over but will not fire and is back firing

the timing is off a bit! heres how I do it. remove the number 1 plug, stick a straw or similar in plug hole. turn engine over by the crank shaft with a wrench. when piston gets to very top of bore, just before it goes down. this is tdc. remove distributor cap and remove distributor reposition the distributor rotor button facing number 1 plug wire inside cap. replace cap and try it! please let me know if this works for you. good-day ! if you can not get to number 1 plug. just turn the crank to tdc marks are on damper pully or crank. is this a 5.7,

1991 dodge dackota got no fire no gas just turns over

what about the fuel filter? its usually located under the brake booster where you put the brake fluid in its either under or around that erea somtimes the fuel filter will be clogged also check to see if its getting spark usually you can take the plug out they have a tester for this that you can buy at autozone or checkers or oriellys auto parts store and make sure your getting spark if not it could be bad distributor or cap and rotor check the cap to make sure all the points are there should be 4 or 6 make sure not broken also check the rotar for breakage or rust if its good and is getting spark possible fuel problem with the filter plugged up or possible fuel rail plugged or if you just recently tuned up maybe you have the wrong fireing order need to get a diagram of the spark plug wires if this is all good possible timing belt broke check to make sure the timing belt is good probably do this first so you dont ruin the engine if it is broke

I had the same problem with my 85 cj7 this week, I relpaced the ignition control module, plugs, wires, cap, rotor and the the coil; still had no fire to plugs. the problem turned out to be my distributor, replaced it today and she fired right up. Most likely it was the pick up module in the distributor that went bad.
