Second row seat won't lay flat

The plastic part holding the cable wire snapped off the Cargo Mode piece because the cable jammed. Ford said they have to replace the left side passenger seat, $1600, any suggestions on how to fix the jammed cable instead of replacing the seat?

SOURCE: driver side second row seat will not fold down.

I had the same problem. The dealer wanted $400 to replace the latch. I didn't wnat to pay that much so I looked at it and found that the release strap was twisted and jammed in the mechanism. Here's how I fixed it.

I removed the screw from the lever and removed the lever. I pulled apart the plastic housing. It does not come apart all the way but enough to work on it. Pull the release strap that comes out of the back and pull it clear of the mechanism and straighten it out. slip the lever back on and the seat should fold. Fold it up all the way to make it easier to reassemble. Pull the lever back off and slip the release strap back into the slot and make sure it is not twisted or kinked. Snap the housing back together, put the lever back on, and screw it in. Test it and it should work fine. Hope this helps,

SOURCE: Replace Passenger Side Mirror on 2002 Ford F-150

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can access the bolts that secure the mirror onto the door

SOURCE: Heated seat

It is the heatling element, stock elements have a single wire snaked through the element and when the circuit breaks it is done, aftermarket elements have a wired grid that if one area fails it still works, they also spread a more even heat.

SOURCE: heating element in seat ford f150

It can be done, but for the cost of a new heating element, it is worth the purchase. The replacement for my 2001 I think was ~ 40.00 ( online, plus shipping costs ) for the bottom cushion heating element.

You can take the same amount of work to remove the seat cushion, remove the cover, and try soldering the broken elements ( usually the thigh area in the front ), but you have a used element that is patched. The way I have seen it done, is actually using wire to close the circuit again, not create a new element section.
The seat bottom work is a bit much ( to make sure the cover is on straight and no creases ) to spend the time patching vs. replacing what is a fairly cheap part.
You can try Tasca and Southwest ford parts online for the current element pricing.
Depending on the shape of the cover and cushion itself, you might consider replacing those ( or the cushion ) as long as you have it apart, but this is getting a bit expensive ( would be ~ 200.00 for all 3 new ).
I did the cushion at the same time, and it made the world of difference to the feel of the seat, just like the day it came out of the factory.

Ford Expedition seat won t fold down

My ford had same problem. I resolved it as follows:

on the side of the seat that has the cable handle that isn't working remove the INSIDE plastic covering. This will just pull off. This is thee plastic piece underneath the seat. Once this is done you have access to the lever that the cable pulls against. My was frozen stuck. I took a long screwdriver and placed it against the top of the lever and struck the end with a hammer. This unseized the lever. At this point the seat could be pulled up but pulling on cable. I then sprayed wd40 on lever joint.

2006 Ford Explorer: Back seat won't fold flat to create flat cargo area. It folds down but not flush.

Okay so im just going to start from the seat being upright in a normal riding position.

1. You need to fold the head rests first. Pull the black tab under both headrests. They should spring into a folded position.

2. pull the side seat lever (on the door side of the seat). This will fold the top/back support down to an angle.

3. There is one more lever on the backside of this seat. Its in plain sight on the angled portion of your seat. Lift the big plastic lever.

4. While keeping the handle lifted, grasp the back of the seat and pull it torwards the front of the car. The seat should come unlocked and roll forward and down more towards the floor. If you have a bunch of junk on the floor, it obviously wont work. clear the path and the seat will fold completely flat.

Also, your drivers seat and front passenger seat cannot be all the way back, they need to come forward some in order for the second row seats' head rests to clear and fold flat.

Where is the jack and tools for spare tire?

CHANGING A FLAT TIRE
Jack Location
In the Durango, the scissor jack and tire changing tools
are stowed under the second row seat.
The jack is secured in place with a winged stud and a
fixed stud. It is very important to secure the jack tightly
in place by engaging the slot in the base to the fixed stud
under the middle seat. The winged stud inserts through
the eyelet in the end of the jack’s worm screw.
