Question about 2000 Nissan Xterra

No electrical to anything.

No power to anything, no start. I replaced battery with same results. I can jump it out but it remains dead after I shut it off. Found the fusible link for the battery but cannot remove it to check.

Where all the fusible links are located is called the IPDM/ER. Which stands for Intelligent Distribution Module/Engine. It sends all the power to the electrical units. They commonly fail and need to be replaced.

Something is draining the battery on our 2002 bmw z 3. The battery and alternator checks out good. What could be the problem??

The problem is that an electrical component in the BMW that should be dormant when the vehicle is shut down is actively drawing power.

Did you try jump starting the vehicle?

If you left the key on all the accessory functions where on and this will cause the battery to go dead overnight. Jump starting to see if the vehicle will start is a good way to determine if the battery did go dead. Depending on how old the battery is it may have gone bad by letting it go dead overnight. If its more than a few years old it may not be a bad idea to just replace it.

My 2005 Sebring 2.7 v6 won't start. It acts like a bad ground, any clues?

Wiring CAN be a problem, but it is not the first thing to check. When cars fail to start but you hear "something" (click), the first thing I suspect is the battery. You say the battery is "good", but you don't say how you determined this. Simply the fact that accessories work doesn't give the battery a clean bill of health. The normal accessory load for a battery is less than 50 amps. It can take more than 200 to crank the engine, especially on very hot or very cold days. Since you only get a "click", and yet the trip computer dims out, this indicates to me that the battery is working very hard but is not achieving enough power to start the car. Do this: get a voltmeter and check the battery voltage at the battery terminals. Do this with the ignition off. A fully charged, good battery will be at least 12 volts. Most batteries have 8 cells in them, each produces about 1.5V electricity. If you are reading, say, 10.5 volts, you most likely have a dead cell in the battery. This will not affect accessories, but will have extreme affect on starting, as the available current is reduced exponentially. Jump boxes are great, but if the battery is dead enough, the box will be working harder on the battery than on the starter and you will get the same results. I've had situations where a battery was so bad that hooking a running car to it for jump a start stalled the running car! If your battery is more than 3 years old, this is the first thing to suspect....but a dead cell can happen to a battery of any age. Vibrations cause the internal plates to break loose and cause dead cells.

97 buick century was running after jump started, when put in reverse it died and wont start when jump start, no chimes or lights come on at all

Dangerous practice to try & jump a near dead battery

Always try charging a battery, that is only a couple years
old & not run down more than two or three times

If the battery is dead & reads less than 12 volts, have a parts
store test it or just replace it.

Jumping a cars battery is not a fix for anything,so I fail to
see how your lost & have not addressed the battery issue,
so you can continue on with other testing,if needed

You said you had a dead battery

It is sort of an unsafe practice to jump one of those
They can explode

A drive around the block won't do the job

Low PCM voltage will shut done the vehicle

Is the battery over 4 or 5 years old?
Is it no charged with a battery charger?
Was it load tested?
Does it have at least 12.6 volts if not, fully charged,
replace it

The fuel pressure has to be checked at the fuel rail on motor
with a gauge & needs to be around 38 to 40 lbs

The pump may not hold pressure & as a result be hard to start

is the battery dead try getting a jump start if that is no the problem follw the hot wire from the battery to the starter , and the negitive wire make sure it is grounded good, or just wiggle all the wires till you see an arc that will let you know to if you get lucky

The cold air is not related to the battery trouble.

I order for your car to MAKE electricity, there must be some power in the battery. If your battery is dead, when you jump it, you can run the starter motor but if you dont put electricity back into the battery, the alternator will not make power. And ... you have the blower on consuming any power that might be remaining in the poor battery.

You might need a new battery and you might need a new alternator in your 15 year old Park Avenue.

Car is completely dead, like somebody shot it dead! No sounds, no light, can't shift out of park into neutral or anything....everything completely warning whatsoever!

Always clean the battery terminals before jumping. An extremely dead battery may not accept a jump as it serves as a 'buffer" instead of helping. If you do get it started, charge battery with a battery charger then have alternator and battery tested for proper operation and check belt condition and tension as well.

Battery goes dead often. Must jump or charge almost everyday

perhaps your problem is not so complicated. maybe one of your vanity mirror lights arent shutting off or something. go out in your car at night and look for light after your dome light shuts off.
