Question about 2000 Ford Windstar
While I am driving my vehicle will just shut off. I stopped at a red light and the engine just stopped running. I went to turn a corner and it just quit. I am having problems with the door locks not alway operating properly. Sometimes they work and other times some or none of them work. I had the starter replaced about 2 years ago. The mechanic that looked at it then could not confirm that the starter was bad. I was told that they would need to replace items step by step. I wonder how much I could end up paying to keep replacing everything. Maybe it's time to replace this vehicle. I am still having the shutoffs. Could this be the result of a bad alternator? Does it sound like an electrical problem? I have used something that I plug into my cigarette lighter socket that converts DC to AC/DC for my cell phone. (The company that distributed this item is Vector Manufacturing. I recall something on the package regarding electrical malfunction but I do not remember the details.) Could this be causing my problems?
If your Windstar has the original fuel pump, it could be time for replacement. Also, you may be having some of the chronic battery problems. You may have to find out from a Ford dealer whether all of the service bulletin changes have been made.
