Question about 1999 Volkswagen Golf
I have a 99 golf. the problem started of by losing power at about 65mph. once it reached that speed it would cut off to about 50mph then i would be able to accelerate to 65-70mph. now driving off is difficult. it is very slugish and hesitates horribly. turning on the car is not a problem. i just can not accelerate. i have changed the o2 sensor but problem persist.
There seems to be some kind of fuel (gas) starvation, check the fuel filter, check to the fuel pump could be weak.
Check the spark plugs, the condition of them will give yousome direction to go about it all.
If its whitish =lean means lack of fuel (gas) and by your explanation it should be whitish.
If its a carburator model thn it may need cleaning.
Not bad to check the distributor too.
Hope this helps!
