Vibration at 70mph after new tires and alignment and much trouble shooting

Put new tires on in late October (Goodyear all season W rated) - vibration eventually shook the whole car and felt like front end was a problem. (MB Dealer put it on alignment rack and adjusted in December) Tire dealer has since tried various trouble shooting solutions; finally tried putting on Bridgestone 960 All season tires about a week ago. Less vibration, but it's not gone. shakes at 70mph. what types of solutions are there besides checking out the rims (245/45P18 front; 275/40P18 rear)?

Gosh - I've had the same problem! - changed perfectly good tyres. engine mounts - everything checked twice and still a vibration. Found the problem. Drive shaft needed repair and balancing. just google "driveshaft balancing" for your area and take the car there.

It could be as easy as checking to see if you have a dented rim.....

or as expensive as changing the "constant velocity joints" but only if it is a front wheel driven car.....

how are your shocks?

have they repacked the rear bearings..."but only if not rear wheel driven car"

Bad vibration on right front tire even after new tires

Does it feel like its coming from the front or a certain side in the front and can you feel it in the steering wheel or brake pedal. Is it only at certain speeds accelerating, braking, decelerating or is it constant.

What type of tire is recommended for a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am GT?

If the vehicle has the standard factory 16 inch wheels fitted you will need to purchase tires in the size: 225/50R/16. There are many brands and designs/models of tire available in that size. ( The size of tire currently fitted to your car is written on the sidewall of the tire).

There are many cheap and nasty tires on the market so go for a reputable brand and select a premium performance tire. Many cheap tires are poorly built and cannot be properly balanced so you will get a vibration through your steering wheel that any amount of tire re-balancing cannot correct. Often the cheap tires also offer very poor levels of grip and generate a lot of road noise when driving.

Always buy the very best tires you can afford.

Goodyear Eagle GT (all season tire) would be a sound selection and prices are reasonable.

Bridgestone RE 960 AS (all season tire) would also be a good selection.

I have 1998 Mercury Sable DOC. I have some vibrating in the front end, I have had bearings, ball joints, brake pads, rotors, calipers, tie rod ends replaced and the vehicle still shakes. I notice it more...

OK, I would change the tires if I had vibrating in the front end after all of that work.

Have the wheels/tires spin balanced in the front and have the tire tech check for out of roundness as it spins on the electronic balancer.

I wouldn't be surprised if the tires were out of round.

I usually recommend Goodyear or Michelin tires with an A traction and A or B Temperature rating and a long treadlife warranty (60,000 mi. or above) to get a rock solid feel in the front end at all speeds.

I just solved such a problem on my 1997 Cadillac Deville Limousine which had used Goodyear Integrity tires and replaced them with new Goodyear Assurance Tires which solved a front end and general body vibration at highway speeds.

Good luck on getting new tires for your vehicle, and hope the shakiness goes away!

Looking for best all season tires

Michelin is the best (better than Goodyear some say) and Michelin Hydroedge is the best of the best all season water tread design with a wear rating of 800 and an A traction overall rating with an 80,000 mi. warranty.

I have a set of 4 from Sears on my 1990 Cadillc Deville and their balance and wearability is tremendous.
