Question about 1997 Volkswagen Jetta
I have a 1997 automatic Volkswagon Jetta. I have had problems in the past with trying to turn the key to start the car. It would feel as if I was literally twisting the key to get it cranked. It started one day and then the next day i went to crank it and nothing. The radio works, my lights, the dinger in the door but when the key is turned there is not a sound at all. Sounds completely dead. I checked the battery and the battery is good. I tried to put the car in diferent positions (speeds) to see if I could get it cranked and nothing. Would you please give me your advise on what the problem may be? You know how women are..we're not sure about cars..lol!! Thanks
You need a new ignition switch, the electrical part of the points in the switch have burt out.
