My problem was that there is a turbo air pollution kit sitting on top of where the t-stat is located. I wanted to know if there was a way around taking all of that off to get to the t-stat. Apparently there is not any way around taking it all off. But thank you for your input. Even though it was not in the least bit helpful from emmissionwiz. And no, i do not need a picture, I am looking right at the car.

Follow the radiator hoses from the radiator to the block. Check the upper radiator hose first. At the end of one of these hoses will be a housing to which the hose is connected. The housing is bolted to the block. The thermostat is in that housing.

Remove termostat housing bolts. Note orientation of old thermostat. Clean gasket material off housing and block. Put on new gasket, install thermostat. Replace housing, etc.

You may have to disconnect/remove other parts to get to the housing botls, maybe not.

I Can Not Find The Thermostat On My 1998 Buick Century. Any Suggestions?

Locate the upper radiator hose. Follow it to the engine. Before it meets the engine, you'll notice that its clamped to a metal housing, usually mounted with 3 ten-millimeter bolts. This is the thermostat housing. Remove when engine is cool. Thermostat is inside. Remove old thermostat and replace ensuring the rubber o-ring aroung the outside of the thermostat if equipped. Good luck.

Car losing antifreeze water, no visable leaks, car overheating. 1998 buick century, v6

if you have no visible leaks and it is overheating then it sounds like you have a head gasket leak internally.the coolant is going some where .get the cooling system pressure tested to make sure you don`t have a leak externally.if the coolant is not leaking out the radiator then this indicates the thermostat is not stuck.what ever the problem is change the thermostat at the time of repair.

Where is the temperature sensor located on the 1998 Buick Century?

it is located in the lower intake manifold on the drivers side near the thermostat housing. Follow the upper hose to the thermostat housing (metal pipe). Follow the housing down to the intake manifold. You should see the sensor mounted in that area. It will have a three wire connector.

Engine Overheats If replacing the Head Gasket does the thermostat have to be removed duting this repair?

If you are going to the expense of replacing the head gasket, it would be false economy not to also replace the thermostat at the same time.
Particularly if you are attempting to solve a overheating problem.

You could check your fuses for your fans or let your engine idle and watch and see if they turn on and off again. Sometimes the fan motors seize up. and need to be replaced. Whens the last time you had your thermostat replaced? I hope this was helpful to you Thanks for using a good evening!

1999 Buick Century thermostat question.

patience , and a 13 MM wrench , you gotta get your arms in there deep , that lower bolt does not need to come all the way off , the thermostat housing has a slot at the bottom for easier access , loosen it about 3.4 of the way and you can get the housing out , experience says a premium thermostat will give you grief trying to reinstall , get a regular duty thermostat .reverse procedure.
