The sending unit is no more than a variable resistor, u test it with an Ohm meter, the reading should move from either high to low ohms or low to high ohms, your gauge will most likely read empty if the sender is defective, while a GM car will read full. The sending unit is located in the fuel tank.

did you change sending unit? that is what sends the signal of amount of fuel. if so then your gauge motor is worn. get a new cluster from wreckers. check all wiring for bad grounds

I have a 1996 Grand Cherokee Jeep Truck I just purchased and the gas gauge is not working it's on empty even when fill it up!

Check the Fuel Sending Unit in the fuel pump. Disconnect the wire to the sending unit, at the tank, and ground it to the car frame. Turn the key to on and see if the fuel gauge goes to Full. If it does the gauge and wire are good and the problem is in the sending unit. If it's still on E the gauge is bad or the wire is open.

Keep us updated.

87 wagoneer, gas gauge reads full at all times. before i buy a new sending unit, is there something i can check on first?

It would probably be safer to replace the unit. IT sounds like it is getting stuck. To be safe i would suggest replacing the unit.

Is their any one else out their that can tell me anything else about a 1990 Jeep grand Wagoneer, are the good to have are bad to keep. hope its all good.

I've had my 1990 Wagoneer since 2007, it was an old "City Park Vehicle" so it was kept in good condition until I bought it. I ran the poor thing practically into the ground and it still runs great!

1990 Jeep grand Wagoneer i ran out of gas, when i put gas in in the jeep the truck try to start but start draging then just did nothing,i try to jump it and steel nothing but just a clicking sound

by running out any debris in your tank will get sucked into your fuel pump. REplacing the fuel pump usually means removing the tank. You can try replacing the fuel filter first its much easier and cheaper. The filter is attached to your fuel line between the tank and the engine, usually in the frame. TAkes about 15 minutes to replace.

I have a 1990 Jeep Grand Wagoneer that run hot when the truck is park are not moving so please

first check thermostat. when jeep is cold take out thermostat and see if you can move any parts . It might be frozen , if its good, then your fan is not providing enough cooling through the radiator to cool engine. if the fan is working properly, then your radiator fins are clogged and u need a through flushing.

Hesitations and knocking sound

From your description i would say that you have lost/spun a rod bearing and have a rod "knocking" against the block.
I would stop driving the vehicle immediately.
if you are able to do it yourself i would pull the oil pan and look for pieces of bearing.
