Question about 2006 Hummer H2

1 Answer

I have a 2006 H2 Hummer, I drove it to mrytle Beach, SC about 3 hours away. I parked at the hotel to chech in, got back in my vehicle about 15 minutes later and I could not get it to start. Had to be towed to the Chevrolet Dealer. I called the next day to check on it, they said it started right up for them and they could not find a problem. I picked my vehicle up and drove it all that day (which was saturday) and all the next day before returning home on Sunday night with no problems. Got up Monday morning to go to work and the vehicle wouldn't start again. I took the battery out and went to AutoZone to get it check, they said no problems with battery, went back home about 2 hours later and put the battery in and the truck started right up and I am driving it now (Tuesday). I called the Dealer and they say they never heard of that.

All the classic symptoms of a bad starter. A bad starter will work fine when cold but once it heats up, will require more power to work. Shame on the dealer for not recognizing this! A new battery with a full charge will work for a little while but if its the starter, I'm sure the problem will return Have your charging system checked out (most places will do this free of charge) Assuming the charging system checks out ok, I'd have the starter checked. I hope this solution provided you with the information you were looking for. Best of luck!

Hummer H2 engine won't turn over, key won't

Dead Battery? Bad starter motor?

Try pushing on the brake and making sure its all the way in park.

Turn the steering wheel back an forth a little to remove the key.

None of those work, Call triple A, find a shop.

Hummer h2

light green most likely, the easiest way to find out is pop out one of your taillights quick and have somebody sit in the vehicle with the key on and put it in reverse then probe the wires coming off your reverse bulb socket with a test lamp until you find power, this way you know which wire for sure. Thanks for using fixya!!
