the speaker will work any way connected, but if wrong way it will be out of phase with the others and may sound poor. the usual + is the solid color wire in most but not allways depends on individual manufactures, you could look at the other speaker and connect the same.hope this helps.
first start off buy laying your back seats down , then take a 10mm ratchet and take the 4 bolts off. next you will need to take the rear dash out (best to use two people one to hole the bar back and one to take the dash out )
ok so once you have the dash out lift the sound proffing mat up and this will expose the speakers . press the two clips (on the left side of the speakers ) and lift up and slide to the left to remove the speakers . be sure to disconnect them before this step . once the speakers are out you will need to remove the black plate off the bottom of the STOCK speakers .best to use a knife to slice around because it is stock on with glue . once the plates are removed have one person hold the plate and you drop the speakers in to the STOCK plates. screw the aftermarket screws in tho the pre-excisting holes . once this is done for both place the speakers back in to the car and clip them in
WIREING:
the stock speakers were atached with clips , these :WILL not work with the aftermarket speaks. you will need to splice them and join the givin wires to the new wires that come with the speaks ,.once joind just tape them togeather or use blue wire nuts . make sure that the speaks work before putting the rear dash back in . :)
The volume control on your radio is called a potentiometer, which may be going bad. It works better when its warm because materials expand as they warm up and make tighter contact with each other.
It is also a possible a bad wiring connection exists. Poor contact will cause static, poor audio quality and intermittent output.
Your radio will have plug type connector(s) Your speakers will most likely each have two wires with single female spade connectors of different widths (keeps the polarity correct) the wire with the stripe (of whatever color) will be connected to the negative (-) speaker terminal.
So you need to check all the connections, one is making poor contact.
If both speakers (assuming you have two) sound good or bad... then start with the plug connectors for the radio and any independent black ground wire coming out of the radio.
If one speakers sounds okay check the connections on the other one. You check the connections by carefully pulling the speaker wire off of the speaker and then carefully pushing it back on making sure it feels tight and secure.
PS: If you pull the fuse for the radio, the radio will have no power and will not work. The radio coming on proves the fuse is good.
PSS: Your owners manual should provide lots of information on your sound system components.
I would retrace your wiring and use a meter to conduct a continuity check. Sounds maybe a short or poor wiring connection. The small temp variance seems like a short happening to me at first blush.
Another way of checking is if you have access to the speak connect another to the speaker connections to see if you have the same issue.
given that this is a 05 vehicle, no there would be no warranty. best advice is to have a professional shop install new ones. pick out whats right for you and enjoy. supervise the work if you can.
