I have a 2001 LandRover Freelander V6
2.5 Litre Petrol, the HDC warning light comes on,
when driving on flat roads, sometimes on very short drives say 5 ks down the road or 10 ks trips, I stop for 5 minutes then drive again it doesn't come on again for a while, sometimes it doesn't come back on at all, I have replaced the front disc brakes and Pads, the rear bracks still have 4 mm of brake lining left, the light has come on since i have had the Landrover, I recently have had the Auto Transmission repaired I think it was a Valve, it was changing up or down very violently, it is fine now, but light still comes on, what can the warning light be coming on for? it has done 158,000 Ks.
cheers

your car is trying to tell you something-look in the owners manual-I would not drive until you find out what is going on or a repairman tells you its safe to drive-cheers Denny
Freelander is permanent 4 wheel drive. The switch on the gear lever is for downhill decent control. These are usually diconnected when there is a problem with one of the ABS wheel sensors not working, causing three warning lights on the dash to display. Google Freelander Three Amigos.
I had a persistent problem of hill light warning and TCS warning lights coming on for no apparent reason. There is a wire connection between the stop light switch and the control unit to let the system know when brakes are being applied. Changing the stop light switch cured it. The replaced switch was certainly sticking and the new one was of a different design. Replaced it myself as switch comes with a wiring loom. Need to get on your back under the steering wheel! Not very expensive. My car 2001 TD4
