Vacuum leak. The distribution works by vacuum, so you must have a leak somewhere.

The fuel filter is located in the pressure line that runs from the fuel tank to the engine, near to the fuel tank.
Keep the engine off for few hours before replacing the filter, to get rid of some pressure in the lines.

SOURCE: mass air flow sensor bad on 2002 monte carlo ss

It's should be a simple remove and replace. Just make sure the engine is off. Also do not touch any of the filament wires on the sensor, just the plastic housing. Also after you install it drive the car for a little while (city speeds, cruising speeds and inbetween). That way the computer will be able to readjust its setting since it is a new sensor.

SOURCE: 2003 Monte Carlo SS Hesitates and Dies after running for awhile

The ck engine light should not be ignored, what sensor was shown to be bad ? Have it scanned again and replace the sensor that is bad if it still runs rough you might want to consider a tune up. Plugs, wires, fuel and air filter's and clean the throttle body with some gumout. It could also be the IAC motor Idle Air Control. Good Luck

How do I reset the low tire pressure light on my 2004 monte carlo ss

It will go off soon as you put the right amount of air in your tires or minutes later, and if you are using a spare tire then the light will stay on until you put the full size tire. Good luck

Ignition switch maybe ? Do you know how to do automotive electrical testing with a volt meter ? Pull the covers off the steering column to get at ignition switch electrical connector , then look at a wiring diagram to see which wires should have B+ voltage in the on - run position ! See if the B+ voltage drops out or just isn't there . You can find free wiring diagrams here
http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model and engine . Under system click electrical distribution ,then under subsystem click on power distribution .Click the search button then the blue link . scroll down the diagrams till you see any that show the ignition switch . Check all the wires that should have B+ power in the run position . I know GM has had ignition switch issues .
The starting of the vehicle is computer controlled ,when you turn the key to start ,this sends B+ voltage to the PCM - engine computer which will then energize the starter relay ,thier by cranking the engine .
