When it stalls, check for spark....or a vacuum leak
you need to check the fuel pressure, spark, and the items that all work together
map sensor ,airflow sensor, iac ,ignition module,,vaccum lines,
egr valve, pliugs, wires, and is there any codes

SOURCE: ENGINE STALLS WHEN I STEP ON GAS PEDAL

Sounds like your fuel pump is going bad! The more you press on the pedal the more demand is on the pump and it cant keep up cuz its junk. Try to limp it to a shop to replace it, unless u wanna do that yourself.....

2000 pontiac grand am stalls

The pump should run quietly. Do you hear a load hum while driving? When it stalls, with the key on and everything quiet in the car you should hear a faint hum when you turn just the key on ( not cranking the engine over ) this last only a few seconds. If you hear that. The pump is working you might have another problem. Let me know

1996 grand am that won't stay running, if it does start it will only for a few secondsand if i try to give it gas it starts to sputter until it eventually dies

you should have the fuel pressure and volume checked with a gage to compare it to specs.the pressure should be 35lbs and the volume should be about 1 pint in 30 seconds.you could have a plugged fuel filter as well.

96 grand am starts for 1-2 seconds and then dies- restart in a few seconds for another 1-2 seconds; new tank and fuel pump

did you change the fuel at the same time as the pump replacement.are you losing fuel pressure/volume that was checked with a gage(have seen it happen with a new pump).does your car have anti-theft on it,it could have set and not allowing the car to start and run.

1996 grand am starts but then kills

GM's are notorious for having problems with the antitheft security system. Especially Grand Ams, I don't know why. When these start to fail, you get problems like you're experiencing now. You start the car, and then the car stalls in 1-5 seconds. If you see a light on your dash that says "security" when you try to start the car, then this is 100% your problem. If you let it overheat for too long (and it doesn't take long) it is possible the engine block is cracked. Inspect underneath for fluids leaking onto the ground.
