What exactly do you mean by rest, the gm key fabs often come apart where the battery goes in, look closely where the contacts that hold the battery in to the circuit board are you will probably find one or more that have come detached, you can solder them back in however this does not always work.

My 2008 Dodge Avenger trunk pops anytime I'm in range with my key. If the key is in the ignition it will stay shut. Is it my car or the key?

I would say your key. Has it been subjected to moisture? Since it opens when you are in range, the FOB is constantly sending a signal. If it were the BCM, it would open at anytime. Key in or not. Open the fob, pull the small board out. Clean it with a tooth brush. If this doesn't help. The fob is what I would replace first. It's cheaper. Then look at the BCM. Get it on a scanner.

I reset my key fobs, now the car is disabled, won't start

In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key all the way through the system. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your starter, and/or the vehicle after 2-5 seconds. This link explains it pretty well.

My honda 2003 accord will go into my door lock and ignition but will not turn in either

what will go into, missing noun, a key?

you have a key, just one, all cars come with 2,

so all keys fail , and where, ??

will not turn means,

wrong key

key worn out, that is why there are 2

key lock full of ICE,

never own any car with one key, or get stranded.

on my POS jeep i have to have 3, smart key Bs. (dont ask, grrrrrr)

tell more get more.

the electric is like this (above is mech, locks)

1: check all fuse, in both boxes.

2: use both fobs 1 at time, and never both near key lock.

3: use only the fob , with no other keys near. (neat)

4: if both fobs fail, this the car side failing

5: if one fob fails it need a new internal battery 99%) or got soaked.

6: if non above works reset the cars security system (ask if this far)

never reset, blindly or risk , losing radio or nav secret codes.

always ask for newer cars. newer car suck this way. big time.

on my car, if i fool it, it goes dumb for 24hours. watch out.

2006 corvette Convertible doors locked with both fobs in the car. Can't get in.

Call the dealer and they can send a locksmith to cut you a new key to get in the Vette without any damages. Your going to have to show prof that the car is registered to you for the locksmith to cut you a new key.

Good luck and thank you for using Fixya

Replaced starter on '99 Yukon. When reconnected

I can't say for sure but it sound like you either trigger the "Panic" button or alarm system if equiped. Hook the battery up (negative last) and push the "Panic" button on the key FOB.
If you don't have the FOB you may be able to reset but disconnecting the negative cable only.
If it's an alarm system, locking and then unlocking with the FOB should reset it, also using the key to turn on the ignition is supposed to reset it.

The security, antitheft or lock picture/icon is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists.
