That is the average cost, but not knowing where you are located. That might be the price around there, and not sure if it's a transmission and rear end shop or a dealer. The price can be that much of a difference.
Try going to different Transmission and differential shops, a good shop may be able to adjust the differential and get more life out of your rear end. Example, I had one of my axle seal leaking and had it replaced just over 275,000. Most shop would have you replace the wheel bearing and seal but with the axle also being worn would call for a new axle to match the new bearing and might as well do the other side to since they have the same mileage and seal would fail soon to.
The shop saved me some money by replacing the wheel bearing with an over size to match the worn axle so the axle could be saved and they readjusted the differential to make sure i'll get more miles out of it.
Call around a few transmission shop and ask them if they could readjust the differential if it's not to badly worn. I am on my first differential and it's over 435,000 miles with out any noise or clanking, just to many u joint replacement LOL.
Good luck and hope this helps.

My fan on my 2002 envoy is staying engaged alot and really loud. How do I determine if it is the fan going bad or a sensor feeding it?

I think the Envoy has the same setup as the Trail blazer and If so its the fan. I replaced the fan on my parents Trail Blazer 2 times in the 7 years they had it . It would start sounding like an air plain taking off when you would first pull out of the driveway

Where is the fuel filter located on my 2004 Chevy Trail Blazer? WE

On 05+ Trail Blazer, the fuel filter is integral with the fuel pump inside of the fuel tank. It is a non-serviceable part. On 02-04s, the filter is on the drivers side frame rail at about the B-pillar. If your trail Blazer is a late 04 which means that it was build close to the 05 Trail Blazer, you may have a non serviceable fuel filter. Good luck and check under your Trail Blazer or look at your manufactured date sticker on the door which would help you indicate if your 04 is a early Trail Blazer and you'll have the fuel filter on the inside frame rail under the driver's door.

Front differential bearings need replacing

No they will need replaced. But it should in no way cost that much. You should be able to get both replaced for about 500-600

I have a 1994 Chevy S10 Blazer bad reverse

The odds of two different transmissions having the same problem in reverse is astronomical. I think your problem is in the differential. Also check for the proper fluids and additives in the differential.

You do not need to remove it from the Truck for Repair. Just remember (Chalk the Wheels so it does not Roll!)

ok it is going to be either the people who replace the a/c compressor might overcharged the a/c system with too much refrigerant or you throttle need to be clean, ask the shop to clean your throttle or go to autozone and buy a throttle cleaner and do it your self , of course if you know how to, but if not autozone might give you some advise, and if this two did not resolve your problem ,then replace the idle control motor, or also known as iac vlave, or iac motor, good luck and let me know but the most important is your feed back to me, and excuse the delay but my business is groing up and just been extremelly busy.
