Replace your speed sensor. Your speedometer is controlled by a sensor in the transmission. It's a simple fix.

sorry it could be the sensor i dont know if it has a fuse for that but i would check the fuse box and see if there is a blown fuse i hope this will help you .

yous might be abs break speedsensor in the rear diferencial or its in the trans i looked for mine in my sable it was behind the the tire but you have to look a long time but it is on the outside of your trans just keep looking you will find it

Speedometer - 40MPH


the speedo is electronic, not cable, this problem is caused by a sticking stepper motor that moves the needle, a stepper motor is a miniature electric motor that can move and hold one position, this was a common problem at the dealer I worked at, u will need to pull the speedo and send it out for repair, I use the following link for this service.

it could be a chaffed wire on the fire wall and also still could be the alternator unless it was brand new i would have it checked personally. then start check the accuator for the needle its self
