Question about 1995 Honda Civic

'95 Honda Civic EX will not start after cleaning fuel injectors

I recently had my fuel injectors cleaned on my 1995 Honda Civic EX. After that my car would crank, blows white smoke from under the hood and start after 3 or 4 attempts. After that, the car will start and run with no problems exception is it doesn't have the great acceleration it had when the injectors where cleaned. I let the gas run out until on empty so I can put in a fuel cleaner. I never got a chance to put in the fuel cleaner. I put in gas in the tank and now the engine will crank, start for 5 seconds, blow white smoke from under the hood and tail pipe, and then turns off. Do I need a new fuel pump and filter?

Thank you HondaAl. But can the car start and run if the head gasket is blown? I had the injectors cleaned by a professional and during the process of the injectors being cleaned, white smoke was coming from the tail pipe and under the hood simutaneously. I was told by a few mechanics it's because the injectors are very dirty and that process is normal. I was also told the white smoke would eventually subside within a matter of minutes. And it did. What I failed to state is that the vehicle was parked for almost two (2) years prior to me starting and running the engine. I never removed the old gas, which was not much, from the tank. Nor did I replaced the fuel filter and do a tune up. This whole issue with the car not starting a week after the injectors were cleaned makes me think I need to replace the fuel filter. I can hear the fuel pump.

I would talk to who cleaned the injectors, I don't know if it something they did or not. It could be a stuck open injector. The exhaust would have a raw fuel odor if it was. What it sounds like is a blown headgasket, which can just happen. The exhaust would have a sweet smell to it. Usually starts as a small leak (between cyl. 2 & 3), the engine burns the coolant while driving which you don't see. Then the coolant level gradually drops to a point where the car overheats, which warps the head, causing a large leak. Now you see the coolant burning (white smoke).
Good luck Honda Al

check your wiring for dirty connections or broken wires, you may have wires that are rubbed through or connectors that are not making full contact. you will need an ohm meter and check wires for continuity. a wiring diagram will be needed.

Fuel pump relay location

There may be a fuel pump fuse or connection you can undo but the relay is integrated with the entire injection system. If you disconnect it, you will lose spark as well. I would look through the fuse box first, I will drag out my wiring diagram in the morning and give you more specific details.

95 honda civic ex squeals when starting engine

Some of the grime, etc on the engine prior to steam cleaning along with any solvents used may have affected the drive/fan belt. I would suggest you either check tightness of the belt and possibly consider replacing it.
