Question about Mercury Sable
97 merc sable noise in front end since tire change, a thumping grinding noise..thought it was brake pads or lack there of, on discs... replaced both disc and pads ,noise on the right still. changed tires back to front...no dif the noise goes away when turning left
Check the condition of the wheel bearings, front and back side if the brake rotor, and the back side of the rim. Everything should be clean, rust build-up can throw everything out of true. The hub or wheel-bearing should be tight and smooth when spun.

If the noise goes away when you are turning its a front wheel bearing that's making all the noise your car has hubs on it and. It very hard to tell if there bad while there on the car as the axel nut holds every thing tight
