Radio Removal/Replacement HI, Im about to buy an after market radio for my 2005 subaru forester and i wanted to know how to get the old one out. It would be great if anyone knew of any FREE manuals or diagrams that would show how to take the dash apart. It has the factory installed single cd changer without door tweeters. thank you so much

also im planing on getting some hid xenon lights for this car... and im confused. some places say you need a conversion kit while others act like you just need to replace the light bulbs themselves. The best explanation i can think of is that there has to be some voltage difference and thats why the conversion is needed? plz let me know it would be much apreciated

SOURCE: After Market radio install on a 2001 Passat

Metra makes a preamp harness that you can use if you have the partial Bose system. My A4 had that (where the front speakers were run off of the headunit with speaker-level feed, but the deck put a line level signal to a rear amp to power the speakers). This harness would let you use the aftermarket deck with your factory speakers, if you have the partial Bose system. Best bet is to do a Google search for "Metra 2001 Passat" or something like that and I'm sure it'll show up.

SOURCE: Installing replacement side mirror on 2007 Subaru Forester

yes... you'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you can access the bolts holding the mirror on and disconnect the wiring harness as well..

Radio will not power up.

there is it should be located on the back of radio itself. if that doesn't work you may need to check your fuses

How do you remove HVAC cables from 2005 Subaru Forester to access removal of radio? I'm able to get bezel loose but unable to get to cables. My radio quit working--has power but no sound.

Hello,

The best way to get that bezel all the way out is to get a short phillips screw driver and remove the HVAC control screws from behind the bezel that are attaching it to the bezel and just gently bend the metal brackets outwards and away from the control head so it can slide out. This is the most effective way to remove the bezel to get to the stereo, unfortunately whenever you try to undo the cables themselves the molded plastic cable receivers always break... always... BUT... I would check to see if you have an amplifier fuse before you go any further. If all the features work on the stereo work except the sound it could just be an amp or a fuse. I hope this info helps!

Subaru forester (2006) radio stopped working - only light static. CD player works fine.

Best guess is the antenna has a broken wire/lead, or somehow got unplugged from the radio. You will have to remove the radio to check antenna wire with Volt/ohm meter.

My clock light on my 2004 Subaru Forester won't light anymore. The dome light works so I know its not a fuse.

Is this for a 1999 Forester or for a 2004 forester, the title lists both years. If it is a 1999 model then the problem most likely resides within the clock itself. Unfortunately, many clocks of this vintage go bad over time. I offer a reasonable repair service and many clock removal instruction sheets at www.autoclockrepair.com
I'd be happy to assist.
