Question about 2002 Saturn S-Series

1 Answer

I was driving home in my 2002 saturn s when the car died. It did not over heat and it was not out of fuel...low but not out. I tried to start the car, but it would not start. It tries to, but doesn't. It sounded like it wasn't getting any gas, so I put some in...but it continued to do the same thing. Is there a fuse that would cause it not to start?

Remove spark plugs wires at coils.Have someone crank engine, should be spark jumping between coils whil cranking. If not most likely a crank postion sensor located on the rear of engine block. If not that other possibility is a ignition control module located under coils (flat plate w-one connector)Hope that helps

How much fuel is left when the low fuel light comes on

It varies for every car. Usually 1-1.5 gallons when the low fuel light comes on. I drove my last '93 Ford Taurus around until the gauge said it was empty. Lifted the car and took the gas tank off and it had 3 or more gallons still in it. Here's some fun, zero your odometer, fill the gas tank and drive it until the low fuel light comes on. Then drive it till it dies out, obviously somewhere near home or where someone can drop off a full gas can.

I have a 99 saturn sl1 i started my car up yesterday for work let it run a couple of minutes do to the cool weather it ran fine but died on me about 10 minutes into my drive not it wants to start but

I would check fuel pressure first.
Could be low fuel pressure due to a faulty pump or dirty fuel filter.
Was the check engine light on when the engine was running ?

No power to fuel pump

Check the relay. If not the relay you have a short (broken wire) grounding between the fuse block and fuel pump
