Question about 1994 Saturn Sl

1 Answer

Won' I have a 1997 Saturn. When I attempt to start the car and turn the key in the ignition once I pass the acc. power to the car clicks off. If I continue to turn the key and pump the clutch, open and close the door or do some other crazy thing, it will start. Sometimes it starts right away, sometimes I have to repeat this ritual for up to 10 or 15 minutes, get out walk away - come back and it starts right up. Replaced the starter - no difference. Once it starts it runs fine and will usually start right up again the next time unless it sits overnight. Any ideas?

Check connections at battery cables, should be tight & not be able to move cables.Check for corrosion at battery terminals. Also I have seen problems at the inside fuse block where a terminal burns causing similar concerns as yours.Hope this helps

My 1997 Saturn had smoke wafting from the vents nearest the windshield an now my key is stuck in the ignition in the ACC position

Wiggle the key up and down while turning it to the off position. It may help to rapidly wiggle the stirring wheel back and forth. this happened on my mom's Saturn. I ended up having to replace the ignition.

Installation of ignition switch 2003 saturn vue

Rmove the upper steering column bezel. (pull up)
remove the lower left bezel (7mm)
Remove the ign switch. (t15 torx IIRC)

Install reverse of removal.

To relearn passlock, turn the key to run, then turn back to ACC. Leave like that for 10 mins, do again, then do again. Takes about 30 mins to complete. When 3 cycles complete, turn off car completely for at least 30 seconds. then start car.

Also, if car is a stick, make sure to push clutch when attempting to "start" at beginning of each cycle.

The key to my 2008 Saturn Vue is stuck in the ignition. It's stuck at ACC. There's no power to the car at all. What do I do?

I have a 2008 Saturn VUE. I had the problem where my key would not turn to off and I wouldn't be able to take it out of the ignition it was also on ACC. So even though I had power in my car it might be the same problem you have. I just kind of hit the shift up when it was in park. This should unlock the key. You should hear a click and after that you should be able to turn it all the way off and take the key out.

Keys Stuck in the Ignition , preventing turning off the engine.

Is the key stuck because you have an automatic transmission and you are unable to shift it into P (park)?

Key locks in the ignition in the ACC position. can't take key out

when you turn key to acc pos that is telling the ignition to go into a accessory mode which runs the radio, wipers etc... but it doesnt allow the ignition circuit to run, and the key in most vehicles will not be able to come out, this is a security protection so that you do not leave accessories on that will drain the battery. The ignition key should only be able to be removed in the OFF position.

Saturn LS1 2000 wants to start but won't

The fab key activates the security system in the car, the ignition pass lock may need to be reset to your ignition key's. It Takes about 30 min to do. Try resetting the pass lock to read your ignition keys. 30-Minute Learn Procedure 1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. 2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON; the vehicle will not start. 3. Observe the SECURITY tell tale light. After approximately 10 minutes, the light will turn OFF. 4. Turn OFF the ignition switch, and wait 5 seconds. 5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 - two more times - for a total of 3 cycles of 10 minutes. 3x10 = 30 minutes. The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch turn from OFF to CRANK. Important: Turn the Ignition Switch OFF. The vehicle learns the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle. 6. Start the engine. The vehicle has now learned the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password. 7. With a scan tool, clear any DTCs if needed. History DTCs will self clear after 100 ignition cycles. Without a scan tool you may have momentary starter interruptions while history clears itself. Good luck and hope this helps. The ignition keys has a resistor value for the ignition to read and after a few years the resistance may change and the Pass Lock has a had time reading it's value so you have to reset the pass lock to read the keys again.

Ignition switch won't turn on!

In the same boat and Saturn just plain sucks. Glad they are shutting their doors. You ignition lock cylinder is bad. Good thing is that its stupid simple to fix bad news is the ignition has to be the ACC position to pull it out. Another real smart move these idiots decided to do. If you have a bad ignition lock you have a 50-50 chance it will seize in the freakin lock position making it impossible to get it to the ACC position. Anyway here is the link to a utude exact video on how to pull it out in 2 minutes to replace if your lucky and can get it to the ACC position.
