Hi could be a thermostat or a head gasket
take the rad cap off a start the car see if there are bubbles in the rad if there are no bubbles then change the thermostat if there are bubbles then good chance it's a head gasket

My son has aq 1997 Firebird. The temp guage keeps showing the engine overheating. The car then shuts down, and will restart immeadiately. When we check the engine it does not feel over hot, It does mnot...

If the engine still has water in it and it is not leaking then replace the tempture sending unit. Just make sure that it is not running hot and make sure that the water is circulating it could also be needing a cooling system flush. But it is hard to say without seeing the car just make sure that the water level has not gone down and if it has a coolent recovery tank make sure that the hose that connects the tank to the radeator is not leaking and that the tank is also not leaking.

I have a 89 pontiac firebird Trans Am "GTA" 5.7L tuned port injected. My engine gets hot somehow and my car has a quick start but lower power afterward. What could the problem be?

Fix the radiator cooling problems. You will damage the engine if you keep running the car in an overheated condition.

1. Replace the thermostat in the cooling system
2. Replace the water pump
3. Flush the cooling system thoroughly and re-fill with the correct coolant. Bleed any air out of the system otherwise you will have problems with air blockages and thus poor coolant flow.

You probably do not know how to do any of this so take it to a reputable workshop or cooling specialist to have it done.

Car overheating and changed everything, WHY??

Maybe a faulty water temperature sensor or a loose connection on the sensor.

1994 v6 Firebird I have overheating issues recently, replaced hoses, cooling fan and radiator. It seems to be circulating from water pump. I do not know which way to turn now, no leaks that I see only when...

Water pump might not be flowing fast enough. Be sure fans actually turn on instead of just sitting there. Change oil. You could have something in the motor causing excessive heat. Piston friction or cam problems ect. Try a synthetic oil.

My antifreeze is leaking out of my radiator .....HELP : (

adding antifreeze on its own can be bad for your motor.. it needs to be added with water.. does it leak from your radiator cap/ overflow hose or from the radiator core.. ckeck you thermostat as well. it stays closed when the water is cold and opens when it gets hot.. it sounds like it could be stuck shut..

95 firebird formula shoots water out of radiator cap and coolant cap when accelerating nonstop from about 20mph to 75mph or even past 75 mph.... does that mean its overheating? or does it need new hoses...

First it means get a new radiator cap, When the spring goes bad it releases at a lower pressure. You may need a new thermostat as yours is probably stuck open and the water pump just throws the water through.

My husband changeted the radiator hose on my v6

Are U sure the coolant is full and all the air is out of the cooling system? if the engine was badly overheated then u may have damaged the cylinder head gaskets, this can cause the cold air as well as low coolant..
