Question about 2002 Pontiac Firebird
I can use the windows for a min when I first start the car then I have to wait awhile then they will go up and down again. The problem just started happening today for both the drivers and the passenger's windows. Are both the motors going out in the 2 windows at the same time or possibly a problem with the relay? I tried putting the passenger side window up and down with the passenger side switch and the problem continued so I don't believe its faulty switches.
Its sounds to me like its a voltage drop problem the wires in the door jam by the hinges bend flex and crack and lose there abilaty to carry the amperage needed to lift the widow. very easy test to do use a dvm on 2 volt scale one lead to neg terminal the other to the ground wire at master window switch should be no more then .2 to.4 voltage drop when motor is running also test power side same way. hope this helps. thunderboltz

I've got one sitting outside right now with the same problem...Both motors are burned out. The motors are really low quality and can't push the window up the track unless everything is perfectly free (never happen on an older car). They run about $35 to $60 each depending upon what you buy. They are riveted to the door and need to be drilled to remove.
