1995 pontiac firebird power windows will go up and down then stop

I can use the windows for a min when I first start the car then I have to wait awhile then they will go up and down again. The problem just started happening today for both the drivers and the passenger's windows. Are both the motors going out in the 2 windows at the same time or possibly a problem with the relay? I tried putting the passenger side window up and down with the passenger side switch and the problem continued so I don't believe its faulty switches.

is there bad wiring or something like that because if it is the motors why would both of them start acting up at the exact same time?

Its sounds to me like its a voltage drop problem the wires in the door jam by the hinges bend flex and crack and lose there abilaty to carry the amperage needed to lift the widow. very easy test to do use a dvm on 2 volt scale one lead to neg terminal the other to the ground wire at master window switch should be no more then .2 to.4 voltage drop when motor is running also test power side same way. hope this helps. thunderboltz

I've got one sitting outside right now with the same problem...Both motors are burned out. The motors are really low quality and can't push the window up the track unless everything is perfectly free (never happen on an older car). They run about $35 to $60 each depending upon what you buy. They are riveted to the door and need to be drilled to remove.

Truth be told, I have no idea why both went out at the same time...but, I've been in the business for over thirty years and have carefully checked...both have power, tracks are lubed, regulator is fine, and motors are junk. Owner of the scrapyard I use says that about half he gets in are the same way!

Will it turn over? it not your starter is getting hot and not working. If yes most likely your coil is getting hot and breaking down.

Pontiac Fire Bird 1995 I turn the key but it won't start.

I had the same problem. I have a 1995 Pontiac Firebird. Check your key and make sure the sensor did not fall out. If it did, take your registration to a dealership and pay $30.00 for a new sensor. Hope that helps. Felecia

1998 PONTIAC POWER WINDOW PROBLEMS

Double check all your fuses and and wires in connection with your power windows. Unfortunately though pontiacs are notorious for the power window motor regulators to go out, my buddy had 99 firebird and both windows had the same problem, and I previously owned a 98 sunfire and both window motors went out within the same week.

Problem with drivers side window

friction is the most likely problem . So take the door panel off and put white lube on all the tracks . If it is not a motor problem that should solve it.

DR Power window stops when going up,

If the window is not moving easily in its channels, it may be taking too long and drawing too much current that may be tripping a thermal overload switch that takes a while to recover.
Check to see if the problem window is taking longer to close than the others. If so, the channels may be misaligned or the motor close to death.
