First check if the wires are still on the starter and tight. Then ..
While someone tries to turning the key tap on the starter body with a rod or bar, if this causes the starter to try and engage you have a bad starter.
Hope this helps.

1998 cadillac eldorado rear brake lights and hazzard lights do not work

More likely that the turn signal switch assembly is bad.Have someone watch the tailights(or use a large mirror) to see if the bright tailight filaments come on with the brake pedal held down while you wiggle the hazard light switch.

My 1995 Eldorado ETC will shut down (intermittent) at idle. All electrical power stops. Car does restart in after a couple of minutes. Battery cables are clean and tight.

You will need to find the codes that the car is getting. You can do this by entering diagnostics on the dash.
1. Turn the ignition switch ON. [Bruce notes: interestingly, the engine can be on or off]
2. On the cars up to 1995, on the Climate Control panel, press the OFF and WARM buttons simultaneously.
  • E -- ECM trouble code
  • P -- PCM trouble code
  • C -- Current trouble code
  • H -- History trouble code
  • NO X CODE -- No code present (X represents the system)
  • NO X DATA -- Communication lines are not operating (X represents the system)

'95 cadillac eldorado driving and went to pass a car. The engine would rev up to 4000 rpm and car would slowly go. check engine light came on. I parked the car and turned it off. when i restarted the car...

well sounds like the trany is slipping, make sure trany fluid is full and clean, also check engine light will reset when ignition is turned off but if you scan computer a code can be pulled to help in diagnosing this problem. start with checking the fluid and making sure its clean and full. good luck hope this is helpful.
