Question about 1994 Honda Civic
'94 Accord with 170K miles. Runs great until brakes applied at stop sign/red-light. Cuts off with no warning. Will immediately start back up and run fine until brakes applied again.
Have you tried turning on the lights to see if they are dim. if so you might have a bad ground in the rear of the car.

The brake servo is working fine, this was my first thought but I disconnected it from the vacuum system and the car run fine for a while and then it started cutting out again, so it's not a vacuum problem. I reconnected the brake servo to the vacuum system and removed the fuse for the brake light switch, car runs fine, although no brake lights, I know that the brake light switch wires run to the horn and the ECM and TCM modules, I suspect there is a power problem when the brake light switch is activated, has any one else had the same problem?

Isolate the brake booster by pinching the vacuum line connected to the booster and try braking. If this works your brake booster is bad.
