Question about 1992 Jeep Wrangler
I know that I need to change the catalytic converter and had a power issue initially from the clogging. Since then It was running fine and no loss of power until one day it died.
Now, I cannot keep the jeep running, it spits, sputters and backfires.
I removed the air cleaner and noticed the backfire is coming from there. I thought the exhaust was clogged but when trying to keep the jeep running I felt exhaust coming out of the rear tailpipe. Nothing appears to be clogged at the moment. Any thoughts?

Sounds like a timing problem, check timing and if off could be timing chain worn out especially if there is excessive miles(200,000 miles or more)
