If you have to press the gas pedal low enough or hard the transmission is slipping. Give it a tune-up, take a look at my recommendations on this page in this link.

My rpm are going up and down while driving.

This sounds normal to me. Why do you think there is a problem? If the RPM's are going up and down during acceleration, then I would say there is some sort of slippage. Have the transmission looked at for signs of trouble. Also, check the transmission fluid level for the correct amount. If it is low, find out why it is leaking. Gasket leak?

What would make my car have high rpm with low acceleration

sounds like an exhaust restriction or a transmission problem causing your problem. check trans fluid level and condition. you can have a test done for the exhaust restriction by doing an exhaust backpressure test at idle and at 2,000 rpms. if this is good then have the transmission checked for a problem.

1998 lexus gs300 runs at 2800 rpm at 65 mph

At a steady 65 mph, the torque converter clutch (TCC) is engaged. When you accelerate, the ECU disengages the TCC to gain extra torque for acceleration and then re-engages TCC when speed is steady. Its kind of like having an extra gear.

It has started to accelerate.up to 35 mph without any pressure on accelerator and revs up to 3 rpm's when idling. could this be a stuck gas pedal? will some WD40 do the trick

the idle control motor could be opening up causing the rpm to increase(acting like a vacume leak),by either sticking or the(ecm)computer, is commanding an increase in rpm.a bad throttle position sensor ribbon could be the problem(must be replaced no repair).if it was a sticking gas pedal then at idle when you move the gas pedal the rpm`s should increase alot.its possible that a vacume leak could cause this like a hose, although this should show up at idle with a high idle.

1991 chevy caprice , very low acceleration on running engine cold, live in minnesota, very cold, runs good after warming up, will only go 12 mph when cold

Hello: If the engine is racing (high RPM) when only going 12mph the it sounds like the transmission is slipping. (I grew up in southwestern Minnesota)

2001 Dodge Stratus acceleration trouble

This could be because your car is not running at maximum performance. Your best place to start would be change the fuel filter and spark plugs. If your check engine light is on go to your local parts store and have them tell you why. Also make sure your transmission fluid is at proper level. Thanks
