Question about 1991 Chrysler LeBaron
I have a 1989 Lebaron with a 2.5 Turbo.
I have a tapping sound that I heard for the first time a few weeks back. The sound comes and goes.
with the hood open I would say the sound is from the area around the distriborter. With the stethoscope I really think it's the Fuel Injector as the motor it self has no noise I can hear in the stethoscope the tapping sound really seems to match the sound coming from the Injector. The sound is a hydraulic ticking sound. at first I was thinking it was a lifter.
It comes and goes. Last night it was so loud I unpluged each Injector one at a time. #3 seem to cut the noice a lot, when plug back in the the noise seem to go away. the drive to day (only 5 miles) the noise was not back as of yet. I have good oil Pressure I have 97753 miles on the car. In the stethoscope The motor is a very good sound no knocks. The car runs great great Gas milages. The trans shifts great. any Idea's?
I would replace the injector and see how that goes. It could be going bad or malfunctioning. You run the chance of it going bad and causing serious engine problems.
