You don't without special tools. I usually recommend that you have this done at a shop as it can be potentially dangerous and messy. My shop, and just about any other, provides a very reasonable oil change service. If someone asks us to change the fuel filter while it's in, we gladly oblige for a small additional charge. It really isn't much when you consider laying under your truck with armpits and eyes full of gasoline.

You need line wrenches. one wrench on one fitting and one on the other. turn counterclockwise.
but considering that the fuel is under pressure, best not to mess with it .alot of fuel comes out and you need to drain it somewhere
teflon tape should be used on the replacement, but no one ever does,it's all about how fast it can be done .
those are the guys that hang calipers by the hoses.

To lean code comes up on obd2 1998 ford f-150

Most of the time this will mean that the fuel filter is restricted,or the fuel pump is weak.To check this, you would need a fuel pressure gauge to find out.The o2 sensor is reporting to the ecm this information.

How do you change a fuel filter on a 1998 e-150 ford club wagon

This fuel filter has snap lock type fittings on the ends of the fuel filter, you need a fuel line disconnect tool to remove the filter, you will insert the tool into the hose ends at the snap locks, push in on the fuel line while pushing the tool into the fitting then you can slide the fitting off the fuel filter assembly. Hope this helps

1998 ford econoline transmission problem

This will sound odd, but if the fuel filter hasn't been changed in a long time replace it and check that air filter isn't clogged up. If this isn't causing it you can try changing the fluid if it's been neglected and add TransX.
