On climate control the system may just need servicing and some freon.

  • miles on engine?
  • No smoke at cruising, deceleration or idle?
  • sounds like piston ring wear.
  • Do compression test
  • chk engine oil level for too much oil
  • On an outside chance check transmission oil also. check vacuum line to trans modulato. If there is trans fluid in vacuum line the modulator is no good.but hard acceleration is piston rings. good luck

    • Tis might help a little. noone wants an overhaul before they have to.

    • When you change your oil use a high detergent quality oil. Many people think , why waste it when its going to just burn it? and start using the cheapest oil on the shelf. The better oil keeps the rings and bearings better protected and will actually help free the oil rings and extend thier usability. Actually to a point of minimizing the oil that gets past the oil rings.Less expensive oil hastens sludge and carbon buildup, accelerating/ worsening the problem. Keep your air cleaner and pcv valve clean. good luck. The compression check doesn't mean you need a overhaul. What it will tell you is hoe much of the required compression is present. You are looking more for uniformity between cylinders. If they are too uneven the performance won't be as smooth and if any are excessive there is carbon build up on the piston. Give the good ole clean oil trick a chance before jumping on the rebuild. Avoid stomping on it. The smoke means it's geting in places it shouldn't and can attract a cop. Do you plan on keeping said vehicle? When the oil ois changed bring a clean plastic coke bottle ,or pepsi, makes no difference. Have the bottle filled with the oil drained from the engine. It will be hot so let it cool before pouring it in your purse !!! JUST KIDDING !!!!!. bE CAREFUL WHEN HANDLING THOUGH. TtAKE IT HOME AND PUT IT ON A SHELF LETTING IT STAND FOR A FEW DAYS TO A WEEK ALLOWING ANY SLOLIDS TO SETTLE. tHEN GET BACK TO ME. k? DON'T AGITATE IT. Mark the container with date and mileage. Hopefully you are ok with this and I'm not being over helpful Hsappy trails..

For the air turn it on with the car on, open the hood and check if the AC compressor is engaging. If not check and or replace the AC relays in the engine compartment. Check all fuses inside the car and in the engine compartment. You could have a blown fuse or faulty relay, also it could have a leak and you have no freon. For the smoke it could be leaking anti-freeze or coolant, leaking internally burning it causing the white smoke. Before assuming that, just give it a tune-up. Make sure you change the spark-plugs. It could be poorly burned fuel or its ruining rich, too much fuel entering. Due to faulty injectors, injector O-rings or pressure regulator.

I have a 2000 pontiac grand prix with a digital climate control system. The heat quit working, it doesn't blow out any heat. Now that it is warm outside the air stopped blowing out any air. The digital temperature on the climate control is not correct. When it states that it is below 30 degrees on the ext and it is warm outside the air wont be cold. Once it starts going above 30 degrees the air gets colder. Today the blower stop working all together. Was told it maybe the climate control unit was bad. You can hear the door opening/shutting when you switch the temp from cold to hot. But there was no heat blowing out whatsoever in the winter time. Could you please give me your opinion on whether or not it is the climate control unit or something else?

Temperature will not change when you set the temperature control from 60 to 90. I getting heat but not hot just warm. I have climate control on a 2004 Mercury Sable LS

I've seen this before. There is heat mix solenoid just behind the stereo that moves the mix door to determine the air temperature at the vents. The solenoid has likely failed and needs to be replaced.

You have a faulty switch. Go to the salvage yard and buy a used one, pull off the trim panel and replace it. I just did one of these last week with the same symptoms.

you cant adjust it ,this requires the dealers computer to re set it,or a phyiscal control has packed up like a vacumn pipe has split where it pushes onto the valve that controls the flap in the heater unit.

Climate control panel

These problems are usually caused by a faulty blend door actuator which controls the position of the air mixing door, and in vehicles with more than one air zone (passenger/driver, front/rear, etc.) there will be a door/actuator for each. These electric blend door actuators are self-calibrating - there is a feedback circuit (wiper type potentiometer) that tells your HVAC control the position of the door. It is not unusual for this potentiometer to wear causing loss of signal at various positions, which then will cause erratic movements of the door (if the circuit fails to open circuit or shorting, the door will default to fully open or closed - i.e. hot or cold air only).

could be 2 things --- first check coolant level --- if coolant is low or got an air pocket in it it will make climate control act goofy ---- either hot or cold air ( in your case both ///// if coolant level is correct and nobody had messed with it it is the AC mixing valve ( located on passenger side of radiator ( V^ will have 3 lines and V8 has 5 --- There are 2 solenoids on top and this is what controls mixture of hot water to ac to control climate control .
