Question about 1998 Dodge Ram
Not the water pump if the belt is removed. Maybe the alternator pulley. Some of the bearings go bad in the stock pulleys. I replaced my idler pulley for 25.00 bucks.

It may be the water pump that is making the noise if the noise is constant.
