Had to replace original 2003 battery Friday. Car runs fine, but has following problems
1] Key on,not started: both tach and speedo peg at max for a couple seconds, then drop to normal.
2] no clock/radio/cd player. No radio lights.
3] no dome [map] lights
4] no keyless door lock/unlock
Should I dssconnect the battery again for a few minutes to force another computer[s] reset???

to get this out of the way you can get the code from the manufacturer. Contacting Honda at there website is the quickest way. Business hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Pacific Time, or try this page here https://radio-navicode.honda.com/
i think it's time to replace the battery. have you tried to crank it after someone gave you a jump? if it starts than replace the battery. there's no real way I can tell you how to check the charging system unless the car is running.
Saturn Ion's have a problem with the starter switch in the steering column. The security feature built into the key is a small resistor. When the key is inserted, the engine computer 'reads' the resistance and accepts the key as valid. The problem is that the pin that the key contacts is gummed up INSIDE the ignition switch. A new switch will fix the problem but Saturn won't cover the replacement though they have issued a tech bulltein on the problem.
The other fix that I did based on an Internet search is to cut the small 24 ga white wire coming from the ignition switch WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING. The engine computer defaults to the run mode and will no longer look for the key verification. The small key symbol remains lit on the dash but the car starts everytime. Small price to pay. The real answer is that Saturn should replace or discount the repair due to HEAVY grease in the switch the gums up over time. Under 40 degrees, the connection is lost to the computer.
does the car accessories work like the radio when you turn they -- if yes then i would recommend replacing the stater. if no power of anything goes to the car then it sounds like a bad key i would try and get a warranty on the part you got. or check the connections with the key that was replaced if you did the work yourself.
Alternator problem, the alternator charges the battery when car is running, so it has probably died now. Was working at reduced capacity for a while, which is why you were only getting a partial charge for some time. Now you have an open circuit completely as alternator has failed completely, time for a visit to an auto electrician. PS replacing acid in battery with distilled water is not a good idea. It probably was time for a new battery anyway.
Follow this step to keep running your sunfire.
1 - Be sure the battery is full charged.
2 - Is better if you put a battery charged
3 - Turn the key to run position and tray to start the car and leave with the key in run position,
With a watch let pass 10 minutes no less. you gonna see the security light flashing and stop flashing after 10 munites.
4 - After 10 munites turn the key to off position during 30 seconds, with watch on your hand, OK.
6-- After the 30 seconds try to star the car
I hope this solve your problem.
Please letme know.
