Question about 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 2WD

1 Answer

My engine light came on, was solid then started blinking. I contacted OnStar for a diagonostic and was told I have a problem with the fuel delivery system. Was out of town, so I got it to the closest dealership. The next morning, the mechanic said I had trash in the fuel injectors and 4 of them would have to be replaced. He also said he would have to pull the tank and replace the filter in the tank. Total cost $1500!!!! I questioned him on how "trash" could clog up the injectors if there is a filter. He said corrosion from the fuel line. It was my understanding that fuel lines are stainless steel (this is a 2004 Silvarado). He also said I was supposed to pull the tank and replace that filter every 25,000 miles. Pull the tank every 25,000 miles?? Am I getting ripped off??

    This is for a 2004 Chevy Silvarado 1500 LS 4WD, not a 2005.

Why would they design the thing where you have to pull the tank??

Changed plug, wire , checked coil, still missing on #3 cyl, what do i need to do, engine light blinks

The check engine light blinks when the problem is serious enough to cause damage to the cat converter.
The problem could be spark, fuel, or something mechanical like a bad valve. So if you think the spark is good, the next step would be checking compression and fuel delivery.

My ONSTAR module did not work from factory. Module was replaced. Then antenna code B2470-04 came up when diag performed. Dealer replaced antenna. Code still comes up

I don't blame you for not wanting the dash pulled actually. Does the OnStar indicator light, next to or around the area of the blue button you would normally push to contact OnStar, show green and blink when you push the blue button or is it red and or blinking at all times.
There are several bulletins related to the problem but I need to know what the indicator is doing.
Make certain the dealer has performed Document ID: 3975755 before any major disassembly.

How to reset anti-theft system on a 2003 Infinity

If you have a check engine light on then you need to scan the codes. Before you do that, check all fuses, powers, and grounds for good contact and make sure there are no loose wires or any corrosion. if fuses, wires, powers and grounds all check out good. then you need to scan the codes and isolate if you are lacking fuel or spark. could be a simple ecu program or security reset. notice the security light when you go to crank it. does it blink, stay solid or flash in any sort of pattern? feel free to call if need be 4 2 3 3 2 7 4 1 0 8 Tim

First check for spark at any of the sparkplugs and if you have spark then check your fuel pressure. This will help narrow the problem down.Let me know what area the problem is in whether it be ignition of fuel.

Driving normal, at 80 kms, car seems to studder a bit, (gas wise) engine light comes on. Stop car, re-start, everything fine, no engine light, at 60 kms, fine, get up to 80 km, engine light comes on and...

First try replacing air filter if not done recently $30, next consider bad fuel put in fuel from major oil company from station with many patrons. Then you need to look at fuel delivery system including fuel filter and furl pump. But first try the 2 things mentioned.

My engine light came on, then started blinking. I

Depends, injectors can be cleaned for far less than replaced. I had the same thing happen in my Dodge truck all 8 injectors pulled cleaned replaced. Gave me the same song and dance about tank, ended up not doing tank and just having a large (from a marine store) in-line filter installed. Have had no further problems 60,000 miles later still going strong and haven't had to replace the filter. The injector cleaning was $35.00 each plus about $10.00 each for them to remove and replace. The filter cost just under $200.00 and they charged me $150.00 to install, With everything I was out the door for around $800.00.

it could mean that you have a leak and the proper amount of fuel isn't getting to the engine.
