Go to nissanpartpartsdeal.com
Enter your VIN from your car registration.
Go to Engine Electrical.
Go to Engine Control Module.
It will bring up the parts schematic with the part number for your car.
That should tell you what you need to know.

Hi Katie,when looking for parts and repairs,that number won't help,you need the year,model and make and engine size,some sites ask for your vin number which we tell the tell.It's listed on your vehicles insurance card,my nissan parts site ask for the vin number and it then list everything about it....

if you are going by the vin number the 8th digit is always the engine code this number in the vin will tell you what the engine was at the time of assembly from the factory

The 8th digit in the vehicle identification number is the code for engine size.
The VIN # can be found on the drivers door sticker or at the base of the front windshield on the left side.
3.3 flex fuel is VIN 3
3.3 regular is VIN R
3.8 is VIN L

The Engine Number is Coded Inside the VIN Number. Write it down and Contact your Closest Ford Dealer and they can tell you Just from your VIN Number.

Cadallic put several diferent engines in the 80s cars because of the EPA if I remember correctly. (I may be wrong)
you can tell what type of engine you should have by the vehicle vin number
V-6 is vin number -4
V8s(472,500,425 and 368 vin numbers RST( and ^
5.& (chev) vin number-7
5.0 (307 olds) vin number-Y
if you get under the car there will be a number stamped on the engine over the oil pan area.
you can match that to the Vin number on the car bottom of windshield or under the hood on the fire wall or in the area of the radiator i believe.
then if these match you may have to check a dealership or write to cadallic for the exact engine or have a knowledgeable person with cads tell you what it is.(this is what I did)
