The car runs perfect, but dies at idle.

I have a galant 1997, that runs perfect, but dies at idle. The moment I release the throttle, the revs just drops to zero and the engine stops. Can anyone help me?

Remove & clean your IAC motor & see if that doesn't help. If it cures it for a while then does it again, replace it.

Go under your hood, and check and see if the wire to the gas pedal has slack. If so, tighten the wire by the throttle body while the engine is running.

1998 mitsubishi galant revs high then low when idling. runs fine but it sounds horrible.

that is your idle air control valve. it is located on the throttle body next to the throttle position sensor

When I start the car it stays at 2000rpm for a few moments then drops down. I'll drive for a few minutes then put it in park and it revs up and down.

idle air control valve is bad replace it. at start up choke control runs till warm up while driving throttle opening controls engine at idle ,the idle air control valve.

Car dies at idle

I think a top end cleaning would be of value to you.

1. Remove inlet hose and clean with carb spray
2. Start car and rev up to about 2,000 rpm and feed more carb spray for a moment or two. It may not even want to run without a fight when you are doing this part.
3. With engine running, open throttle (wide open throttle) and hold hand over inlet and then take your hand away and allow it to flow again and release the throttle. Don't over rev it, you just want to create a vacuum state in the intake that will remove carbons, etc. Do this open throttle and cork it with your hand about 6-8 times. Then reassemble anything you took apart.

This trick removes stubborn gunk in the intake by loosening it with carb spray first and creating a vacuum to dislodge it. Expect a little black smoke when doing this trick.

Engine starts but cuts out as it settles to idle revs

is the check engine light on ? find dle air valve mounted on throttle body ,remove an clean with spray carb cleaner , or look for vacum leak.
