The Piston seal on the cylinder may need replacing! Otherwise the valve has an eccessive leak rate. The leak rate is normal due to spool clearances although the cylinder shouldnt go down that soon. You may want to check the lift cylinder. As far as negative effects they are minimal other than danger to surrounding things under the forks.

Top will not come up. trying to by pass the lift

John, I'll help if I can. Need more info first. Does the top go down under its own power? Can you hear the hydraulic pump running (whining) when you try to raise the top? Does it move at all and give up or nothing at all? Did the top operate more slowly for awhile before failing to raise at all?

Let me know, and I'll see if I can help narrow down a potential solution.

What is the location for the hydraulic lifters on the Jeep grand Cheerokee

Lifters are internal to the engine. They sit on top of the camshaft, which has lobes (egg-shaped ovals machined into the camshaft) that are oriented at various degrees of a 360-degree rotation. When rotated the camshaft's lobes contact the lifters, raising them upwards so that the push rods that sit on the lifters also raise and force the rockers to contact and push on the top of the valve stem causing that valve to open into the cylinder below it. When lifters become weak, they may cause a distinct tapping sound to occur. A mechanic or service technician will immediately recognize this sound and advise you that something is wrong with the lifters. It may be the lifters themselves or it could be other causes. Replacement or servicing of hydraulic lifters should be left to professionals or very knowledgeable consumers.

Forklift will not turnover

the fork lift has several safety devices that will not allow it to start until everything is set
you in the seat , foot on the brake , transmission in neutral and hand brake on
it is designed so that you cannot start it from the side where if it starts it runs away uncontrolled
check for all operational safety switches

Top worked fine yesterday but today tried to let down only clicked

It is a hydraulic pump that applies pressure to the 2 hydraulic pistons to raise & lower the top. So, check for something obstructing movement first.

The convertible top:
  • is motor-driven.
  • requires parking brake engaged to complete circuit for operation.
  • is equipped with a back window glass (42006) . The back window glass is permanently attached to the folding top back window curtain (52500) and cannot be opened.

Need a lift

hi, i always recommend using a lift kit for safety but, you can use a hydraulic floor jack to lift as well. they are really strong and sturdy. i would recommend using one hydraulic floor jack on each axle.

Lift Cylinder, Power Top Removal and Installation
NOTE: The cylinder rods should be in the fully-retracted position.
  1. Remove pump and motor as outlined.
  1. Remove the upper and lower hose fitting from the folding top hydraulic cylinder (50600) . Use absorbent rags or a container to catch any hydraulic fluid that leaks out when removing the fittings.
  1. Remove each of the service cylinder plugs one at a time and attach the hose fittings. NOTE: Be sure each fitting is installed in the correct position on the folding top hydraulic cylinder .
NOTE: Make sure that the tetra seal is installed in the bottom of each of the folding top hydraulic cylinder ports before attaching the upper and lower hose fittings.
  1. Connect the folding top hydraulic lift motor and plate kit (533A00) to a 12-volt power source and cycle the folding top hydraulic lift motor and plate kit in and out several times to purge the air from the hoses. Some noise squeal may be noticed due to the air.
  1. Carefully remove the rubber fill plug from the back and the reservoir and check the fluid level. The level should be at the bottom of the filler hole. If necessary, add Synthetic Mercon® Multi-Purpose Automatic transmission fluid E6AZ-19582-B (ESR-M2C163-A2) or equivalent.
  1. Replace the fill plug with a new fill plug.
  1. To install, reverse Removal procedure.
