I have a 1997 mit mirage when i try to start it, it wants to back fire and not start and when it does start it pops and has no power and wants to die because of low idle

Its possible that last injector is the problem.
Someone will need to check out the fuel system - check fuel pressure and the injectors among other things.
I am assuming the check engine light is not on.
I'm also assuming the timing belt, distributor cap, rotor, and plug wires are in good condition.

Water pump went out order new one ,it look like imay halt todis assembl rhe right side of motor to even get it ,including my timing belt

That is correct. The timing belt must be removed to replace the water pump.

CAUTION: Your vehicle is equipped with an "interference engine", meaning that if the timing belt is not replaced properly, or if the engine is not timed correctly, or if for any reason the timing belt breaks or comes loose, SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE CAN RESULT.

How i can change timing belt

unless you are a mechanic forget it ,one slight mistake and you can crunch the valves ,also you cannot undo the bottom pulley bolt with the starter motor and a big bar with socket because the engine turns in the wrong direction as it points to the right ,So unless you have the right tools like a 1" air wrench with a nice air reserve behind it ?'

Timing belt installation

Click on the following direct Link. It has several Diagrams for your Timing Belt. The Timing Belt Tensioner is what you have to loosen in order to Remove and Replace the Timing Belt. This also shows you the Bolts needed to be removed in order to gain access to the Timing Belt. And the Timing Marks in order to Installation.

Let me know if this helped...

How do i change the drive belt on a 97 Mirage

To change the drive belt you will need to find the tensioner pulley justt loosen the bolt /nut in the center of the pulley and then wind the pulley slider down usually located on the back side of the pulley. wind it down until you can slip the belt off. if the is 2 belt say for instance power steering and ac etc remove the outer belt first the power steering pump may have the tensioner on it same concept though. loosen nut/bolt and unwind til the belt slip off the pulley. remember to disconnect your battery because its better safe than sorry. Good luck!

Need to replace the water pump on my 1997 mitsubishi mirage? Are there other components that need to be changed

If nothing in the cooling system has been touched in the life of the vehicle, you should have the cooling system flushed, new thermostat and new hoses (upper/lower radiator hoses and input/output heater core hoses). A new belt probably wouldn't hurt, but it all depends on the maintenance history of the car.
