Usually a sign you have a blend door that is stuck, or the controller has failed. The blend doors use small electric motors controlled by the main controller on the dash.

A/c is not blowing real hard

is the velocity of the air not blowing hard, or does it not blow cold air? if the air is not cold, it sounds like you need to have your a/c system recharged.

2005 pathfinder, ac has stopped blowing cold, and it shudders violently when the compressor tries to come on. Not sure where the problem is in the system, but it will blow cold for a few seconds, but then...

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly. The symptom your describing sounds like the actual compressor pump take a lot of horsepower to turn it. Use a ratchet and socket on the center mounting nut for the compressor clutch. I would just about bet that it is VERY hard to turn. It should turn through with minimal resistance. If it is VERY hard to turn the compressor has failed. I would like to know either way on how hard or easy the compressor clutch mounting bolt turned. Just make sure you rotate the pump in the direction it would be turned while the engine is running.

The a/c blows really cold, the problem is although I can hear that it is blowing hard, it only trickles out of the vents. I think a vaccum hose is disconnected. I need to know where to look for the...

does it blow hard and cold out the defrost vents? If no, your evaporator is icing up from too much freon flowing into it. The a/c cycling switch will need to be changed.

If it does blow hard out the defrost vents, then check the vacuum hose going from the engine into the car, through the firewall, and to the a/c control head. Also, check the vacuum reservoir line and tank under the hood for leaks.

I'm assuming this car uses vacuum motors to controls the doors inside the plenum. SOme cars use electric motors.
