Question about 1996 Chevrolet Suburban

1 Answer

I have an 89 G20 sports van with a 5.7 Fuel injected Changed the plugs recently....gaped them a .35...soon after the motor began skipping.....more of a hiccup at higher speeds and after it's warmed up..runs a bit sluggish now....changed the PCV and air filter...still the same problem.... Thought it might be bad gas...put dry gas...injector cleaner and octane boost in..still the same problem..nothing major...just skips...any thoughts

Why would a inproperly gapped plug cause a skip and only at higher speeds...? Would something like that happen all the time even while idling? What other problems might cause my situation...and yes...changing the plugs in a van is one royal pain in the **** :)

I know changing the plugs in a van can be hard, sometimes when you have hard too reach spots aplug can get bumped, or cracked damgeging the plug or resetting your gap too zero,if this just started after you changed plugs i would check here first.

My 1992 chevy g20 van surges and i'm not sure exactly why. I changed the pcv valve, fuel filter, spark plugs, and air filter. What are some possibilities

My first thought would be a vacuum leak in one of the hoses. Rubber hoses get brittle with age and even a small crack in a hose may cause surging. Happened to me in a Lumina.

Where is the fuel filter located on a Chevy Mark 3 Van 350 motor/20

If it is fuel injected, it is an inline filter found underneath, along the frame rail. If it is carbureted, it is screwed in the carburetor where the fuel line enters it (intake fuel filter nut)

Where is the fuel pressure regulator on my 89 G20 Chevy van?

Underneath the throttle body , it's serviced by removing the TBI Unit and flipping it over , your fuel pressure should be between 12-15 psi with a proper working regulator.

sorry need to have a play with it to find the fault ,but if this vehicle is playing up why not go green and get yourself a nice peugeot partner van or a ford courier something with a nice 1.6 diesel engine ,50+mpg what more could you want .especially if your petrol prices were instantly risen to our europeon prices and the road tax set at our levels for engines this size
