Question about 1993 Buick LeSabre

Transmission slipping--disconnected and reconnected sylinoid and woks again but for how long??

I have a 93 Buick Lesabre with 169,000 miles. The transmission has been more noise as it shifts. Then one day it did not shift. when I moved the car I was able to engage a gear again. I babied it to work and then had it towed to a mechanic. He removed the sylinoid and it shifted fine so he put it back and reset the computer. The issue did not reaccur after that. I am still leary and have not driven it much. Any oppinions about what caused it or what is fixable.

No new part. Just disconnected and reconnected the sylinoid.

Will changing filter and fluid possibly be enough?

Theres a good chance that,if the tranny wasnt serviced often enough the filter and the fluid wasnt any good. so possibly with the new parts and new filter and fluid,it should extend the life alot

yes it definately doesnt hurt but keep in when fluid cant flow good it can damage the torque converter and many other internal part, and or burn up the cluthes inside the tranny, event automatice have clutch disc in them.

I problem with the lights on my 192 Buick Lesabre is similar but it oesn't happen all the time. I could drive for 5 mile with the lights on an they will go off, but if i drive another 10 mile and

This is likely a defective main headlight switch, have the switch looked at for signs of heat related damage to the connector, if that is found replace the switch and install a repair connector, both are avail from most parts stores like NAPA and Carquest.
