I'm not EXACTLY sure because I don't have the book right in front of me, but it might be the tire pressure sensor. Mine came up with a similar sensor not long ago when my tire was too low.

I am having trouble locating the air filter on my 2008 vw jetta.

How to change air filter

1. Unplug the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.
2. Undo the spring clips and pull out the turbo inlet connector. 3. Remove the two T-25 screws on the air snorkle as shown below. 4. Remove the engine cover by pulling up HARD where indicated by the green circles in the photo below. 5. DO NOT APPLY ANY FORCE where indicated by the red diamonds in the photo below. 6. If it's cold weather, make sure the engine is warm so that the rubber grommets warm up and are flexible enough to come off. Cold, brittle plastic and stiff grommets will lead to a broken airbox/cover even if you otherwise do everything correctly. 7. Pull up on the rear driver's corner (near the battery box) first, then the rear corner where the MAF sensor is, then the fronts.

Exclamation point warning light came on...what

A yellow explanation point symbol on the dashboard typically applies to the Tire Pressure Monitoring system. A thick ! inside a half drawn flat tire symbol to be complete and comes in yellow color when lit. Under normal vehicle set-up, if this indicator stays lit after the power-on selftest, you need to check your tires for any uneven pressures and adjust their pressures to correct specifications. Okay? : )

A red exclamation point inside a circle when lit indicates your parking brake is on, or your brake fluid level is low.

Dash light popped up, hollow circle with six rectangles around it, what does that mean?

If you read your manual, you'll see that's it's a symbol for your brake pad sensors. If that's not it then you described it poorly. it almost looks like (O) (where the ( are 3 blocks)) If i'm correct, then yes, it's your brake pad sensors have been cut, so you need new brake pads, you'll have to pull the wheels to find out which side (front or rear).

Warning lights on a 2008 VW Jetta

I have a 2008 Jetta. The symbol "!" if it has a circle around it and its yellow..it means low tire pressure..I just had that come on my car, low air will fix it. DRL means daytime running lights.

2005 and a half, Jetta 2.5 warning light inside tach display

I have the same problem, because it's difficult to see the rear brakelight halo when you are not at the right angle.  And, when my wife was driving in the Jetta--right in front of me--that's when I finally saw which brakelight was out (1/2 a halo).  (2006 Jetta 2.5).
