Idle too fast?

I just purchased a 1991 camaro RS 305 TBI 700R. The idle is way too fast! In park and in drive. Its right around 1150 RPMs in Park. Right around 950 in drive. Checked everything i could to my knowledge? Checked the timeing, its good. What could it possibly be? Thanx!

Checked all vac lines, all are fine. the ones that were in question were replaced. Still running at the same rpms. Is it possible it could be the ecm? I looked at the tps sensor, Could not find any adjustment. Could you specify a little? Thanx a bunch! Appreciate all your help :-)

Check for vacuum leak at the base of the throttle body. Also check all vacuum line and for loose connection points

1991 camaro rs, 305, TBI, I INJECTOR DRIVERS SIDE NOT WORKING. REPLACED WITH NEW INJECTOR STILL NOT WORKING. CAR DOES START AND RUN.

Hello....The ECM on your camaro has one (1) injector driver in it. This drive splits to 2 traces inside of the ECM and exits on 2 separate pins.
Each bank of injectors has its own fuse. So a fuse may have popped. Check the wiring harness and check for bad grounds.
To check the injectors measure the resistance across the injector pins. It needs to be above 14 ohms. Best if checked while they are hot.
Good luck, i hope this helps.

How to fix high idle in park on 87 chevy truck with 305 tbi

on the side of the carburetor is whats called the butterfly, the cable from the gas pedal is connected to it. It is spring loaded . there is a screw that allows you to adjust idle by turning to position the butterfly to stop at the correct idle.

When my 2005 chevy cavelier is idling (at stop lights, sitting in park, etc) where should the rpms be? I have a friend saying my rpms are too low when idling. Right now they are between 0 and 1. Thanks

Idle in park: 800-1100RPM is acceptable.
In drive: about 700RPM
Your idle speed is actually controlled by the idle air control motor also called the IAC. There isn't any idle adjustment you can manually set as the motor is fuel injected and EEC controls air and fuel mixture at idle.

I have a 91 camaro rs with a 305 and the starter wire broke and it sat about a month till i fixed it...once i fixed it, it won't idle right and dies sometimes and when i put it in gear it dies when i try...

It sounds like you have mosture (water) in the fuel system. Go to your auto supply and get a can or two of water remover to put in the fuel tank. If you are in a wet climate and your fuel level in the tank was low when you parked it that is most likely your problem.

1991 c1500 305- engine idles at 1900 rpms. was put on modis for diagnosis, stalls at normal idle 800rpm. was told to replace throttle body and route egr to a port vaccum. what do you suggest. no other...

there are numerous things that could cause this. Something I do on mine every 6000 miles is get a can of carb & coke cleaner. I start the truck, and rev to 3000 rpms then I spary cleaner directly in to the TBI. This cleans pretty much everything out that has been built up over time. (Truck will try to die when performing cleaning. Keep sparying and up the amount of throttle just enough to keep running.) Now since the truck is a few years old I would next CK the vacum lines. They run all over the top of the engine as most people know but also on your truck they are what run the air vents moving from floor to vent to defrost, and if 4x4 the front axel hub locks. There is a vacum line that runs from TBI to the vacum canister (located on driver side behind head light) Then it runs down beside the radiator to the frame rail then down the frame rail to the cab. This line is mostly metal (just like the metal brake lines) and it seems get holes in it from it rubbing all sorts of ****. Then I would ck the throttle postioning senser, and timing. Also on these trucks the idle will be around 200 to 400 rpms higher in Park or Netural then if in Reverse or Drive. If it does not change more then likely you are having either problems with a sensor in the transmission, or Computer problems. Also if you have a TBI spacer it will rasie your idle most the time. If you dont have a spacer you will also want to try this. (you never know if someone else may of adjusted it) You will need to adjust your idle screw. NOTE: Keep track of exactly how much in or out you adjust this screw. This way it can always be returned to stock.)
