Most likely problem is broken blend door. Common on these cars. On the last one I replaced (just a few months ago) we had to order the entire a/c box assembly. Also the entire dash has to be removed to replace it and is easily broken if not done correctly.

My ac was working fine then one day it stopped and now only hot air blows out the mechanic said the ac is fine and works good but there is a vent door that switches the ac to heater and he said it was...

There is a blender that controls the air flow to go through the heater core for heat, and the evaporator for AC. It very well could be stuck.

You maybe able to try and get it to get unstuck by running the cars AC and switching from heat to AC back and forth and see if it gets unstuck. Just turn it on full blast and go from heat to cool.

If that fails, then you may need to service it. There should be a Lever Marked VENT under the dash, usually by the Brake and other pedals on the Driver's Side. Close the VENT and that will stop the Air from coming in and leave the A/C Blowing through the outlets(Vents).

I also read this online if you have an electronic climate control. "On climate control press off and heat button and let go quickly. Then press automatic. The display will start rotating eventually displaying a code 025,125 , 024 etc. Then press defrost to stop. You may hear blend door operating atb that time. It worked for my climate control."

I have a 1995 Lincoln Town Car that has hot air blowing through the a/c vents. I've been looking online and everyone says that it is probably the blend door motor actuator. Is that correct? And how...

If you can get air out of the defrost, vents, and floor, the blend door actuator is working fine. The most common cause for hot air coming through the vents with the AC on is the system is most likely low on refrigerant. There are leak detector kits available at most auto parts stores. Any service station certified in AC service will require you to repair all leaks prior to recharging your system. A do-it-yourselfer can "top off" the system with refrigerant (also available as a kit through your local auto parts retailer). Most AC compressors require a minimum of 2lbs of refrigerant to engage. I'd certainly take the car to a service station that's certified in AC repair instead of going to a Lincoln dealer. Prices vary according to many factors ie where you live, the extent of the leak etc. It's money well spent to have a professional do the work since they're able to properly evacuate the system prior to recharging.

the door opening & closing on Max a/c is the inside/outside air intake door.
The temp blend door is the one you are concernd about. It says you have to remove instrument panel for access. ouch!!!

-------------------------------------
A/C Electronic Door Actuator Motor
The A/C electronic door actuator motor (19E616) is located on top of the A/C evaporator core housing assembly.
  • Its function is to move the A/C air temperature control door on command from the control assembly.
  • The A/C electronic door actuator motor contains a reversible electric motor and a potentiometer. The potentiometer wiper is connected to the actuator output shaft and moves with the output shaft to indicate the position of the A/C air temperature control door.
  • Battery voltage is applied to the ends of the potentiometer. The voltage available at the wiper indicates the position of the potentiometer. The actuator wiper voltage is sent to the control module and matched with the wiper voltage of the module potentiometer. The printed circuit board then drives the actuator motor in the direction necessary to make the actuator wiper voltage agree with the control module wiper voltage.
