Question about 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Coupe
When i put the key in the ignition it wont turn over at all, like it is locked. i tried to turn the whell while trying to turn the key and it still wouldnt unlock. is there anything elese that will help unlock the ignition?
put the key in the ignition, but the key/ignition doesn't turn. How do you unlock it?
Try wiggleling the key too the tumblers may be getting worn in the ignition is this works then replace the ignition

Another thing to check is that your gearshift lever is goes fully into Park. I had this problem on a Ford Expedition. The gearshift developed some play and wouldn't always unlock the ignition.

Go to the hardware nad have another key made.the key may be wore out and see if it will turn.move the steering back a forth at the same time.if it works.thats good.you have a transponder key in this car.so dont expect it to start with out it.if the new key works

Had the same problem with a 99 dodge van. tow truck driver put the key into the ignition and tapped it a couple of times while turning the key to freed it up and start the engine. works as long as you leave the key in the ignition so i use a second key to lock/unlock the van. hope this works for you. gary
