Identify bolt sizes as sae (american like chevy) or metric (nova is same as toyota corrola), use correct 6point sockets, squirt on fluid like pb blaster, let soak then try, fix small bolt heads w/ dremel tool , make a hex or a slot or something for grip or get the special tools for rounded bolts

If you have a torch handy, add some heat too the sorrounding area of the bolts should come apart easy then

Replacing 1987 Chevy Nova Thermostat

Look for a hose extending from the top of the radiator to a round housing atop the engine. Removal of the housing cap screws will reveal the thermostat. Note the mounting orientation of the thermostat to avoid installing the replacement upside down. Remove the old thermostat and gasket. You may have to scrape the old gasket off. Place the replacement gasket and thermostat in position and reinstall the housing cap screws and tighten securely. Start your Chevy and check for leaks..

I have a chevy nova 1987. Changed the entire distributor, new cap and rotor but still no spark. have a mechanic and he his stumped to. Now we think it might be the ECM. more money....the auto was running...

Have you checked the control module in the dist. to make sure the unit is good. This sounds like the control module is not allowing the fire through. I would assume when you put the new dist. is this would be change but if not you need to check it.

Ihave a 1987 Ford F 250 with brake problems. Is there any known issues related to the brake system on these trucks?

Generally any brake issues from 1940 thru 2013-- is just poor
& sloppy work, not knowing what needs to be done when working
on brakes

Today they have gotten complicated ,with the electronic abs part
& all the add on nonsense

The basics still apply & haven't changed, even most abs can
be bleed as if it wasn't there

Turn the front idle screws in until they bottom out gently. DON'T turn them in hard or you will damage the tapered ends. From there turn them back out 1 and 1/2 turns. That should start the car and you can adjust from there. If you do then do it in 1/4 turns and do both screw at tne same time. Hope this helps.

Brake pedal goes soft when engin is running on 1998 chevy 1500

If your rubber brake lines are from the factory those hoses can stretch when the brakes are applied. This same thing happened to me. I replaced the master cylinder, with little to no change. So then I changed the brake booster. And if you read the fine print if either the brake booster or the master cylinder go bad it can take the other with it. So if the rubber brake lines don't fix this I would look at replacing both the master cylinder and the brake booster at the same time. But if you would like to trouble shoot this issue a bit more you can clamp off just the rear brakes or just the front brakes or even clamp off 3 of 4 or if it might be a issue before it even hits the brakes them self you can clamp off all 4 of the brakes to see were the problem is. This is to test fewer components at once and to see if the issue is with the cylinders / calipers or hoses. This will help you determine the location of the problem faster and with out throwing parts at your truck and hopping it fixes the issue.
