Question about 2005 Volvo S40
I tried to reset the regular scheduled maintenance message per the instructions given to me by my local Volvo dealer - (turn to position I - hold down trip button, etc). After doing the exact steps, the Volvo now won't crank. The radio comes on and all the electrical seems fine, but it only clicks when you turn the key. Now I get an ''Engine Service Required'' message. Just bought the car for my daughter two weeks ago - HELP!!
Check battery voltage while trying to start car. May need new battery. Since you just bought the car the battery may be weak from sitting at a car lot for a while.

Sounds like an immobilizer issue you have to take it to dealer
